I don’t dislike the average person who voted for Donald Trump. I understand that the left can sometimes come across as offended babies. I understand that men especially have felt ostracized by the left. If you aren’t LGBT+, a minority, or a woman there are people from my party who don’t care about your opinion, and will scream “white male privilege” in your face. These people are wrong; and they do not make up the entirety of my party, nor my own opinion, but they are loud.
I also understand that the average voter is not well informed. I would likely be guilty of this myself if I weren’t married to a man who is so engrossed in the political world. It’s easier to focus on your own life, and the inner circles of which you are a part of, leaving the big picture to someone else. It’s also easier to listen to the loudest people (on both sides) and forge opinions, rather than digging deeper, reading, and researching ideology yourself.
Men should feel proud of themselves. They should feel strong, appreciated, and important. I think these marginalized groups have just spent so much time feeling lesser in the past that they have let their anger present itself in a way where the bullied grows up to become the bully. I have found myself rolling my eyes when the media replaces a male super hero with a female, or a video game is suddenly littered with talk of using proper pronouns. I think these things can be good, but when it’s suddenly everywhere, and replacing beloved characters to fit an agenda it’s silly, and it turns people off. The right has pandered to men. It has unofficially declared itself as the strong good ole’ boy party, and when the left extremists claim to be the party of acceptance while shunning white males they have gone against that which they preach. I hate that those loud silly voices have drawn so much attention from my party.
I can agree that while Donald Trump is a narcissistic, greedy, asshole he is also funny. Some of the things he says are low key hilarious, and it would be a farce to say otherwise.
However, I do not believe our country should be run by a narcissistic, greedy, asshole just because he can sometimes be funny or “tell it like it is.” I believe that the greatest country in the world should be run by serious people who have empathy, and who are not influenced by bribes and flattery.
It saddens me that Donald Trump not only bamboozled men, but women, and just about every marginalized group into believing he would “drain the swamp” when his cabinet is filled with billionaires. This is not just government by the top 1%. Trump’s government is ruled by the top 0.0001%. He has the richest men in the world on his cabinet, and if you believe they care about YOU at all then you, my friend, are mistaken. People don’t become that rich without doing horrible things to get there.
I am baffled that this con artist who has scammed people, outright not paid employees who worked for him, abused women, and lead the charge to January 6th, an attack on democracy-of what WE the people voted for because HE wanted to be in power, has conned America into letting him back in office. Suckers and losers we are indeed.
